They list XTC as a major influence, and to my ears their music embodies the spirit of the Swindon combo. The video for their song 'With the Band' is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=eebnCAlx7qU. Panegyric, the label responsible for issuing DGM's acclaimed King Crimson 40th Anniversary Edition sets, has announced that it will be issuing new archive CD/DVD-A & CD/Blu-Ray editions by XTC starting with Nonsuch and Yes with Close To The Edge. Both albums will feature additional tracks and new stereo/surround sound mixes by Steven Wilson. September: XTC - Nonsuch - available in two editions - CD/DVD-A & CD/Blu-Ray. Ape House will issue the first in a series of XTC releases with Hi-res stereo original mixes, new stereo & 5.1 mixes plus additional music & (on Blu-Ray) video footage. October: King Crimson - The Road to Red - Limited edition, multi CD, DVD-A/Blu-Ray boxed set. DGM has assembled a set focusing on the final North American tour of 1974. One item which I couldn't find via my search on the site, and sadly (and not very usefully) I don't have now : there was a magazine in the very early 1980s called Event, which was Virgin Records' equivalent of the listings magazine Time Out, and I've a vague memory that Andy Partridge designed a game which was printed in one issue, as I know he's into board games (e.g. Nigel sleeve). The chances of that turning up thirty years later are extremely minimal due to the ephemeral nature of listings publications, unless a fan saved their copy. Well, hearing. Two of the final three minutes of the Ricochet podcast for Sept. 4 are devoted to "Pink Thing." That's the sickest and cleverest in-joke I've noticed in a while. Usually that podcast closes with a song somehow relevant to the episode's main discussion, but in this case, near the end of the show, co-host James Lileks, who might have been playing with some sort of snack, observed that he had just spilled his seed ... and added, to the amusement of the other hosts, "Is that a sin?" No mention of Onan, but the point was made. The engineer could have gone with "Pictures Of Lily" or "Rattlesnake Shake" to drive it home, but Naughty Andy's paean to self-pleasure got the call. With the intent of informing and not provoking, I should add that Ricochet is a no-raised-voices discussion of the issues of the day from a (U.S.) Constitutionalist/free-market/individualist perspective.
