After quickly scanning the news and list archives, I didn't seem to find any
mention of this, and it would be a shame for people to miss the opportunity
to purchase a fine disc of music by two artists who are personal favorites
of mine (Andy, and the compositions of Tim Smith from Cardiacs). All
proceeds from sales will go toward the rehabilitation of Tim Smith from the
debilitating stroke he suffered in 2008.

In a nutshell, Andy performed on the Sea Nymphs tribute track "Lillywhite's
Party" with Robert White (of Milk and Honey Band fame). Artists of note
performing tracks are Oceansize, Max Tundra, North Sea Radio Orchestra, The
Scaramanga Six, and Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree), among others.

see http://www.thegenepool.co.uk/items/597.htm for details.

Pre-ordering the album also garners you an additional disc of extra tribute
tracks by other great artists such as the phenomenal "victorian punk" band
Silvery.

Just passing this along.

Thanks,

-Dane

Hey all,

Its been a long time since I posted here....wanted to point out a video
just posted on youtube. Miles Zuniga is the long-time guitarist of
Austin, TX power pop band Fastball. They had big hits in the late 90s
with The Way and Out of My Head.

Fastball released a record last year, and now Miles is working on a
solo album. He recently held an online fundraiser for the project
via kickstarter.com (which is a great idea for bands and other groups
to raise cash safely and securely...check it out). In exchange for
demos, a signed record and other fun goodies, we gladly shared a few
bucks to help fund the record.

Now, the XTC part...one of those extra goodies he offered was to
cover a song of our choice and post his performance on youtube.

We chose Collideascope off of Psonic Psunspot, and he's done a bang
up job of it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C4E08GMmiM

If you dig what you hear/see, I hope you'll leave Miles a comment.
Its not easy recreating the Fab Three, but this is a really spot on
cover for a one-off...also, I encourage you folks to check Miles out
via the link on youtube to "theseghostshavebones"...lots more good
tunes where this came from.

enjoy/all the best, jc

Well, I just read of the impending reissue and expansion of SKYLARKING, and
I'm excited, but for one little glitch-it's apparently only coming to us on
vinyl. Okay, I get the rebellion. There are other artists who have done
this in the past, like Van Morrison's classic ASTRAL WEEKS only seeing a
spiffy vinyl release and no CD digitization, but that's a shame because
there are a lot of people who would like to just go out and buy the
expansion on CD. Is there any chance that SKYLARKING will indeed see a CD
release? I would ask the same of the other promised titles, but the
"promise" was originally just a word out there with nothing coming directly
from Apehouse Recordings or Andy Partridge.

Well done that man.

I say: Obviously, if it is a dog, it is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi! None of this
"at full elongation" for a wolfhound or greyhound; the long length and short
legs make it obviously a corgi (of which we have two)!

On december 2th. Primus visited Argentina on tour, they had a
press conference with Terra Argentina and answered the next question:
"....the last two "covers" cd`s recorded by Primus you had XTC songs, ?Are
you huge fans of this band? they answered : XTC are great champions but
not as good as The Dukes Of Stratosphere...."

Dear Old Chalkfriends,

A month from now, when this digest comes out, please take a moment to
check out my new album called Looking Glass. It's a collection of
reflective songs and instrumentals written over the years that I've always
meant to put into proper recordings. Doesn't really sound like XTC that
much, but you might be interested anyway. Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks so much,
Tom

Steve Cameron said of Powers,
"I didn't even know this existed until a couple of days ago - and nowit
appears to be sold out."
Yeah, I went to order it and...damn. Download only. Andy, are you going to
make more? Maybe based on pre-orders?
On that note...does anyone know if there is going to be a digital download
of the new Skylarking release? I plan to buy the new LP set, but I really
have nothing to play it on. I love the *idea* of vinyl, but I'm definitely
an iPod kid now...
Anyone?

Dear Chalkholders,

I hope you got your copy out today of
http://chalkhills.org/reelbyreal/a_BBCLive.html and gave it spin, I did.
It is hard to believe that it was recorded 30 years ago 12/22/1980. The
good news is that it still satisfies the need for some rocking XTC. I
sure could use something new from the lads these days. Maybe Andy can
scratch his fuzzy warbles and find something new.

If anyone is interested I have three discontinued slightly used XTC shirts
for sale cheap Two T-shirts and a Nonsvch Polo in XXL. They are way to big
for me these days. http://naperville.bookoo.com/item.jsp?itemId=18569348

http://naperville.bookoo.com/item.jsp?itemId=18569639

And before I sign off in case you missed this sad news; Captain Beefheart
has died. Andy is listed as one of the many artists influenced by the late
Captain in this obit.
