But as art, or even as pop, which is a low form of art, it has not yet amounted to much. It may still achieve artistic significance, and that is one of three good reasons to follow it. The other two: It is of unquestioned importance in the sociopolitical sense, and it can be lots of fun. For the aforementioned anorexic Women's Studies major to get a grin out of "Baby Got Back," she would have to be another Camille Paglia in terms of intellect and sense of humor, and what are the odds of that? You'd do better to wager that Colin will show up at Andy's door tomorrow morning with a dozen fresh demos under his arm. Kudos to HomeFrontRadio for saying "Baby Got Back" is "far more 'Dr. Demento' than 'in flagrante delicto.'" It's a great turn of phrase. I'll celebrate that part of your post -- but not your fatuous promise to commit sexual violence upon a musician. At the time I could have kicked Mr Moulding's arse. It made my life at school a misery for a couple of weeks (normal attention span of teenagers). Some people still mention it now believe it or not...anyway I'm rather proud of it now. Not many people have theme tunes. An interesting factoid for you all. I was reading in my local newspaper recently that following a gun amnesty in South Yorkshire, all the recovered weaponry was melted down in the Sheffield steel works of the very song in question, Making Plans....maybe the future of British Steel is to melt the guns? cool.
