thursday - its the first time I got to see the show -
its very cute. But to say that the move is a good
thing

"since Friday nights are a TV wasteland..."

I'd say is a bit, um... well, I figured its b/c on
friday there is already a show about a girl who gets
advice from some supernatural source - Joan of
Arcadia.

I like that show, so I can't say Fridays are a TV
wasteland, but its all opinion anyway.

But really, two hours of the premis? It was probably a
bit much to take.

Better to move to Thursday.

Beyond the scope of this analysis?!? What an ass-pants-y copout! "Consumer
backlash"? Duh! The 'consumer' acts out his 'backlash' by....everybody
now... downloading music instead of buying it! How about a non-alternative
factor: *because P2P destroys *all* musicians' business models, especially
the less-popular(read: interesting) along with the fat-pig labels.

Blahblahblah. Quit spreading this biased crap like it's fact. Open your
eyes. Music-making is for rich kids and the 'already-famous' now. Nice
going! Enjoy your gruel.

Sorry all, but after four episodes, Wonderfalls has been canned by
Fox. The producers are looking to find a venue to air all 13 of the
episodes they completed, and a DVD set is not out of the question,
but unlikely.

A shame, as the show was quite good.

I should have known its fate was sealed when I went to the 20th
Television (the show's co-producer) suite at a television executives
conference back in January and nobody had ever heard of the program.

This might be interesting to some of you.

A friend of mine sent me the following link. As a 70s performer under the
management of Simon Napier-Bell (a loveable rogue as she puts it), she
successfully retrieved long-lost moneys owing to her.

This is a site that lists unclaimed royalty payments due to musicians and
songwriters for airplay and public performance usage of their recordings in
the United Kingdom. If you scroll through the alphabetical list, it's quite
amazing to see some extremely well-known names who haven't been paid, or
haven't claimed their due, among the myraid of relative unknowns.

DAVE GREGORY is listed! He's due however many pence for having appeared on
Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers"! Buy yerself a pint Dave!

Maybe some readers here may have friends/contacts who are also listed? If
so, please alert them to:
www.royaltiesreunited.co.uk

...at any rate, the list is quite an amusing read, I found.

Hi:

Just went to show a friend the new video on the Wonderfalls site, and
found that there is no more http://www.fox.com/wonderfalls ... they've
wiped all traces of the show from the site. So much for moving to
Thursday nights.

RIP, asspants. Good thing Andy got a flat fee for the song, I guess...

but only because a few things in the last digest made me think some people
might like listening to radio hidebound. XTC related content: I've just
added a bunch of stuff from Transistor Blast into the station's playlist
and XTC is the only artist exempt from the 9-and-a-half hour artist repeat
restriction. The XTC restricition is only 4-and-a-half hours (and this
doesn't even include the Dukes or songs from that thing with Harold Budd)!

non-XTC related content - great to hear about Parthenon H. I remember him
during his "Buddha, Buddha, Buddha" days (if anyone knows how I can get my
greedy hands on "Mondo Montage", please, please, give me a holler), me
friends with the bass player in Rick Rock. Ah, good memories of Connor
Beach (sorry, or not so much, for the Chapel Hill references)

cheers.kah

Paul Feig, the creator of Freaks of Geeks, was recently interviewed about
the upcoming DVD release of Freaks and Geeks.

One of the questions was "What is your favorite musical moment from the show?"

His answer:

There is one that's my favorite: Bill getting picked last in gym class with
the XTC song, No Language in Our Lungs. That was one of my favorite songs
growing up. And we had that scene put together - generally we would write
to certain songs - but this one we didn't quite know. We went days and days
trying to put other music on and everybody resisted, and finally we showed
it to some people with that on and somebody burst into tears. I just think
it transcends what you normally get to do on TV. It's funny, sad,
heartbreaking - I love the heartbreaking stuff, which is another reason we
probably got canceled.
